Untrusted Http Certificate Detected

admin

This still left me wondering, though, why the apparently untrusted certificate authority was detected by IE, Chrome and Safari, but not by Firefox. Then I was listening to Steve Gibson's Security Now podcast mid-week, where he happened to be discussing something related to how browsers check certificates for validity. Free SSL Certificates from Comodo (now Sectigo), a leading certificate authority trusted for its PKI Certificate solutions including 256 bit SSL Certificates, EV SSL Certificates, Wildcard SSL Certificates, Unified Communications Certificates, Code Signing Certificates and Secure E-Mail Certificates. We offer the best prices and coupons while increasing consumer trust in.

My client who recently migrated to office 365 is now getting periodic (3 days or so) notifications that microsoft outlook is trying to communicate over a channel with untrusted certificate. This is happening on several of their computers with noapparent pattern.

One computer is running office 2016, another has office 2013, and the other i believe has office 2007. Ive attached some screen shots.- the first shot shows the error message which suggests the error is from outlook.office365.com- the 2nd image shows the certificate view but the issued information is odd.

I don't recall seeing this before.- the 3rd image is the av software has detected a problem and i expanded the details. It shows the application, company (microsoft), and the certificate name.any idea what this is?

As i said earlier, this only started once i migrated them to office 365. (i am their cloud partner and delegated admin).

Hi BillS,To clarify the situation, I’d like to collect the information:1. Does the issue occur internally or outside of the office.2. Is any local server running?3. Please run an Outlook Connectivity test for your account by following the steps and send us the results.a. Browse to the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer tool at the following website:b.

Select Office 365Microsoft Office Outlook Connectivity TestsOutlook Connectivity click Next, Enter your Office 365 sign-in credentials.c. Click Perform Test, and then wait till the details pane is displayed.d. Expand all and send us the test result.4.

Ensure the Date/time of client computers is set correctly.I have sent you a private message to collect the test result. Please click the link below to access it:https://community.office365.com/user/conversationsRegards,Poppy. Hi BillS,Thanks for your information in private message.According to your screenshots above, your AV software would always notify that the certificate is untrusted.

If so disable the AV software temporarily, will the notification pop up again? Also I checked the certificate and found that it was strange. Could you let us know how you got this certificate? Moreover, if you try to install the certificate and place it under the Trusted Root Certification Authority store, after restarting your Outlook client, will the issue persist?Regards,Yang. I have no idea who issued the certificate. I thought it was associated with Office 365/Outlook?

Why do i only get it now that Office 365 has been installed? Why would i install an untrusted certificate to the Trusted Root? Turning off the AV would probablyresult in the notification going away but again, im not sure that is a wise thing to try especially we would have to wait potentially 2 or 3 days for this recurrence. Can you tell me if Outlook/Office 365 requires a certificate to operate properly? This certificate appears to be issued by dsldevice.domain? I have no idea what that is - ive never seen a cert like that before. But the first screenshot seems to link itwith outlook.office365.comI have opened a support request with the AV Provider as well to see if they have any input.

Hello andy4115, if you already try to rename(or delete) the cert8.db file in your profile folder don't continue to my reply. Click the Windows Start button and copy the next bold%APPDATA%MozillaFirefoxProfiles and paste it in the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu, without pressing Enter. A list of profiles will appear at the top of the Start menu. Click on the profile with “default” in the name to open it in a window. Find cert8.db file inside Firefox profile folder and rename the file to cert8.db.old (this will remove intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored). Exit firefox and restart it. If that helped to solve your issue then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file, otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates.any luck?thank you.
